Everyone experiences stress at times. But when stress becomes persistent or overwhelming, it can take a serious toll on your physical health, your relationships, and your sense of self. If you feel like you are constantly running on empty, struggling to switch off, or finding it hard to cope, counselling can help you understand what is happening and begin to make practical changes.
Stress can come from many sources. Work pressure, financial worries, relationship difficulties, caring responsibilities, or a significant life change can all play a part. Often it is a combination of factors that builds over time until the weight of it becomes hard to carry. Physical symptoms such as headaches, disrupted sleep, and a weakened immune system are common signs that stress is taking hold.

I work with clients experiencing both personal and work-related stress. My integrative approach means I help you explore both the practical and emotional dimensions of what you are facing. We look at what is driving your stress, how it is affecting you, and what changes — whether in your circumstances or in how you respond to them — might make a real difference.
“Stress counselling is not about being told to slow down or handed a list of relaxation techniques. It is about understanding your situation clearly and building a practical response that works for your actual life.”

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between normal stress and stress that needs professional support?
Stress that is manageable and short-lived is a normal part of life. When it becomes persistent, affects your sleep or relationships, leads to physical symptoms, or feels impossible to manage alone, professional support is worth considering.
Can counselling help with work-related stress?
Yes. Many of my clients come with stress that is primarily linked to their work. We explore not just the practical pressures but also the underlying patterns — such as perfectionism, difficulty setting limits, or fear of failure — that can make work stress harder to manage.
How many sessions does stress counselling take?
This varies. Some clients find that a short course of eight to twelve sessions gives them the tools they need. Others find longer-term work more useful, particularly where the stress is connected to longer-standing patterns. We will discuss what feels right for you at your initial session.
